What is black fungus?

Black fungus is sometimes called fungus, cloud ear, jujube ear or tree ear. This is a dark brown to black mushroom that is native to Asia and China and some humid Pacific islands. It is edible and is often used in the cooking of Asian Oriental diets.

What is Tremella?

Tremella is an edible fungus that grows on many trees in Asia, especially in China. It is also known as snow fungus, white fungus or white fungus. Dry white fungus should be immersed in clean water until soft. The density of the white fungus flowers affects the time required for soaking. The higher the density, the longer the soaking time, and the same is true anyway.

How does black fungus hydrate?

If you eat dry black fungus, soak it in hot water for about 1 hour until it is soft, then soak it in cold water overnight. Wash the black fungus with running water, hold the water with your hands, remove the roots, and if necessary, tear or cut into small pieces for cooking.

Is black fungus good for you?

In traditional Chinese medicine, black fungus has anti-coagulation properties and is therefore highly praised. It can also help reduce cholesterol levels in the body and reduce aortic plaque. Like tofu, the black fungus itself does not have its own true taste, but is soaked in cooked flavor for human consumption.
Some mushrooms are like cheese: they smell stinky outside, and stench can cause the wallpaper to peel off. But what about the taste? The taste is mild, refined and even a bit addictive. Black fungus is like a stinky cheese in the mushroom kingdom. Black fungus is black brown and tan.
Black fungus smells like black soy sauce and Chinese balsamic vinegar, dark and spicy. This smell may make people want to take a deep breath or throw it into the trash. However, once soaked in water, the smell will disappear and the rest will be pure black fungus mushroom flavor. Take a bite and enjoy the soft surface, the fleshy texture, the taste is not as annoying as the smell.
Black fungus dried mushrooms can be used in many classic Chinese and Japanese soups and stir-fries.

Fungus (English: agaric), also known as cloud ear, mulberry, is an important edible fungus in China, with extensive natural distribution and artificial cultivation. The fungus has a soft texture, a delicate taste, a delicious taste, a special flavor, and is rich in protein, fat, sugar and a variety of vitamins and minerals. It has a high nutritional value, and modern nutritionists praise it as “the best of the best”. The nutritional value of fungus is comparable to that of animal food, and it is extremely rich in iron and vitamin K.
Morphological characteristics

The fungus mycelium is composed of colorless and transparent tubular hyphae with a transverse and branching. The hyphae absorb nutrients in the matrix and form fan-shaped mycelium under the bark.
The fungus fruit body is thin and elastic, colloidal, translucent, concave, often ear-shaped or ring-shaped, gradually changing into a leaf shape. The base is narrowed into the ear root, the surface is smooth, or there are vein-like wrinkles, the diameter is generally 4 cm ~ 10 cm, the large can reach more than 12 cm. Strongly shrinks after drying, the upper surface of the solid layer becomes dark brown to nearly black, the lower surface is dark grayish brown, covered with extremely short fluff

Growth habit

It is parasitic on the damp and decaying trunks and grows on the rot of more than 120 broad-leaved trees such as sorghum, poplar, sorghum, and scorpion; it can also grow on the ginkgo tree. Artificial cultivation is mainly based on eucalyptus and bag materials, artificially planted with eucalyptus and bags as the base, and more growth in wet areas.

China is a major producer of fungus. The production areas are mainly distributed in Jilin, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hubei, Shaanxi, and Zhejiang, including Hailin and Dongning counties in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang Province. In December, it was promoted to the national fungus wholesale market) and Huangshaodian Town, Luohe County, Jilin Province is the largest black fungus base in China. There are 9 species in China, and Heilongjiang has all 8 existing varieties. There are 7 species in Yunnan and one in Lushi County, Henan. Wild black fungus is mainly distributed in the large and small Xing'an Mountains forest area, Qinba Mountain Range, Funiu Mountain Range, and Liaoning Huanren. Hubei Fengxian, Suizhou, Sichuan Qingchuan, Yunnan Wenshan, Honghe, Baoshan, Dehong, Lijiang, Dali, Xishuangbanna, Qujing, and other cities and Lushi County of Henan Province are the production areas of Chinese fungus.

Storage conditions

The storage temperature of fungus is 0 °C, and the relative humidity is more than 95%. Because it is a colloidal edible fungus, it has a soft texture and is easy to stick to a stiff mass. It needs to be ventilated at a proper time to avoid mildew [6].
Storage and transportation method

It is difficult to store and preserve fresh fungus. Even under suitable temperature and humidity conditions, it can only be stored for 2~3 weeks. Therefore, it should not be stored for a long time, and it can only be used for short-term preservation and storage. It needs to be packed in baskets, boxes or plastic bags.
